McGowans In Killikun, Roscommon Census Records

I found the following McGowan Family in both the 1901 and 1911 Roscommon Census for the townland of Killikun:  Edward McGowan, his wife Margaret and two sons - Thomas and Michael.  I'm wondering if Edward might have been an older brother of my GGF, Daniel McGowan born abt 1840 in Roscommon?

Daniel McGowan's father was either Dominic or Thomas (spelling on Daniel's marriage record hard to read).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
