JC McDermott:

I don't see a marriage record for Michael McDermott and Mary Reilly on the subscription site Roots Ireland. I found Michael's baptismal record on January 14 1828. His mother was Mary Cryan and he had a twin brother Bernard. He also had two older sisters: Mary baptized August 12 1821 and Anne baptized November 28 1825.

Hello Roger Mary and Michael were married in PHiladelphia (my home town)

I am looking for Edward McDermott from Roscommon who came to Phillie and became a citizen in 1802  I have not been able to find him in Ireland nor how he is connected to my family

I do have  his naturalization papers and found him in Phillie

Hi JC I have an Edward McDermott in my tree from this district but not as far back as 1802. What date of death do you have for him? Any other clues?

Hello I am looking for information about my ancestor Anna McDermott born between 1827 and 1830. She (with her sister Kate, I believe) moved to the U.S. around 1852,  where she married John Flaherty from Tipperary.

Anna is the daughter of the Harts (Harte?) - Catherine and Owen. Catherine's parents owned a furniture making business.  Anna may have been baptised in Elphin Parish County Roscommon.

I know almost nothing about Anna's husband John Flaherty, yet I think he is from Tipperary. Would like to find out more of his story, as well as hers!

Mary:

According to the subscription site Roots Ireland, Ann was baptized February 3 1827 at the Elphin RC church. Father Hugh McDermott mother Catherine Hart. I did not find any records for siblings.

Can I suggest that you post a new message on our message board for John Flaherty?  Thanks!

I am new to this website so just saw the conversation about Michael McDermott between JC McDermott and Roger McDonnell. I'm trying to find McDermott relatives from Boyle.

Maria/Mary McDermott, christened 13 Aug 1821 in Boyle, was my 2nd great grandmother. Her parents were Maria/Mary Cryan and Bernard McDermott.

  • She had three siblings that I know of: Catherine (Oct 1824 per US Census 1900), Bernard and Michael - twins per your research, christened 14 Jan 1828. I knew they were brothers, but had their birthdays as about 1829 or 1830 per various US Census records.
  • Maria/Mary McDermott married Laurence Redican in Boyle Parish, 8 Jul 1841. They had two children that I know of, Maria/Mary McDermott christened in Boyle 16 Oct 1842, and my great grandmother, Margaret born 1845/1846 in Boyle (can't find her christening record).
  • My great-grandmother emigrated to NYC as a child around 1850 (US Census 1900). I can't find her parents there or remaning in Boyle, but her McDermott aunt and uncles (Catherine, Michael, Bernard) emigrated about that time.
  • I'm curious about Michael McDermott in Philly as he would appear to be the same Michael McDermott I have in NY (same parents, brother). I found two wives for him, Eliza Kilduff and Mary Burke.

JC McDermott - It appears we have a connection in our family trees. Do you know when Michael arrived in Philly? Any information on a move to NY?

Appreciate any clues!
