The Parishes appear to be listed on the RCB list under 'Ferbane' (pg 47 Dec. 2024 ed.), but unfortunately many of the historic records are noted as destroyed. The linked notes for Ferbane parish link also mentions being linked to to the 'parish of Gallen' - see : Ferbane P.0227 (Diocese of Meath) The parish list entry also notes some copy register details held by RCB Library and microfilm[s] of the parish held by the National Archives (dual green and yellow entries and the 'M')
The copy registers held by RCBL seem to include baptisms from 1819, and burials from 1821
In the latest parish list the entry for 'Wheery or Killagally' notes 'see Ferbane and Tessauran' and the entry under Gallen also notes lost records..
The parish union structure seems a little complex - I'll check out the details and revert...
Based on Lewis 1837, here are extracts of the established church parish structure and churches at that time :
Gallen (Gillen) - a parish.. it is a vicarage in the Diocese of Meath, forming part of the union of Reynagh, church is at Cloghan
Wherry - a parish part of the union of Tessauran - also known as Ferbane..the church was built 1804
Ferbane a post town in the parish of Galen...- the parochial church of Wherry is situate here
Reynagh a parish ... church built 1829..parish united with Gallen in 1798- also a church in the parish of Gallen
Tessauran a parish .. united with Ferbane in 1804, church built 1806
Here's the linked notes for Gallen Parish - also mentions some possible register copies for Ferbane.
added - the latest RCB lists Reynagh records from 1807 as lost
Hi Shane, many thanks for the information and taking the time to assist.
This could explain why it has been difficult to locate records. Many thanks Shane. Kind regards, Kate
It doesn't appear in the online source list but RootsIreland holds transcriptions of baptisms (from 1819) and burials (from 1821) for Ferbane (Whirry & Gallen) Church of Ireland. Burial results may appear in the Parish/District of Banagher.
Thank you both!
