Searching for descendates of the following couple and the sponsors. John TIERNEY married Anne DELANEY on 3rd February, 1823 in the Parish of Dunkerrin, witnesses were Patrick DELANEY and James LOWEY. The following children were baptised for this couple at Ballydonough in the Parish of Dunkerrin, their sponsors being some of their own kinfolk. Michael bp. 17.1.1826 sponsors Daniel TIERNEY and Mary DELANEY; Ellen bp. 20.1.1828 sponsors John EGAN and Ellen LARKEN; Mary bp. 28.12.1829 sponsors Michael QUINLAN and Margaret TIERNEY; Catherine bp. 29.10.1831 sponsors John DELANEY and Judith QUINLAN; Ann bp. 19.8.1835 sponsers Daniel EGAN and Honora KELLY; Timothy bp. 17.9.1837 sponsors Michael TIERNEY and Mary WHELAN; Catherine bp. 27.10.1839 sponsors Michael GLEESON and Judy GLEESON; Johanna bp. 17.10.1841 sponsors Patt LOWRY and Mary TIERNEY and Honora bp. 14.4.1844 sponsors Ned SHEA and Ellen TIERNEY. I don't know why there are two Catherine's. Another child Patrick was born about 1838 but not listed. By 1853 John and Anne TIERNEY and Catherine had died so most probably it fell to Mary and Ann to leave home in order to ease the burden on the rest of the family, on the 12th October, 1853 they arrived inAustralialeaving Michael and Ellen in charge of the household at Ballydonough. On the 22nd August, 1856 the six brothers and sisters joined their sisters Mary and Ann in Australia.I am descendant of Johanna's and would love to know what became of any their family in Ireland ie family of their parents John TIERNEY and Anne DELANEY and how their sponsors were related to them. Thank you. Marion.
