Richard J Upton and Johanna Reardon

Birr (Offaly)

I am trying to find any information I can about my Great Great Grandparents, Richard J Upton and his wife, Johanna Reardon. My Great Grandfather, Joshua David Upton was born in Parsonstown (now Birr, King's County, now Offaly) in 1841 and he was their oldest child. I am presuming they were married there but have been unable to find out ANY information about them and where they came from. Would really appreciate anything at all about them. as I live in Australia and can't find out any information from this end.

I located a civil birth record for a Sarah Upton with the parents you mentioned - Parsonstown registration district on the 21st April 1864 - I can see no corresponding Catholic baptism on either RootsIreland / NLI / FMP searches or a Church of Ireland baptism on RootsIreland, or any sign so far of any siblings or potential marriage. Catholic records for the parish of 'Birr and Loughkeen' go back to about 1838, and Church of Ireland records back to about 1760 on RootsIreland transcripts..

Do you know what religious denomination your Upton family were in Australia ?

Child's name Sarah, place of birth Clonoghill (Clonoghil)

parents Richard Upton & Johanna Reardon, father occupation labourer

informant of birth Richard Upton (his mark)

The townlands of Clonoghil Lower & Upper are in Birr civil parish and about 3km east of the town of Birr/Parsonstown.
