Aussie greetings: seeking Curtis family relatives from Ballyboy (Co Offaly)

Ballyboy (Offaly)

Does anyone know James CURTIS (born 1775-1835) who married Margaret SHEA (1750-1861)?

Their son Michael Curtis (born Ballyboy 1808, died in Victoria Australia 1889) married Sarah (called Sally) Molloy at Frankford, Co Offaly on 1st December 1838.

Sarah’s parents were Thomas Molloy and Elizabeth Dobbin (also from Ballyboy). The 1826 Tithe Allotment Book for Knockhill and Drinagh, Ballyboy, Offaly, listed Michael Curtis as owning or renting 3 acres of second-class land and 6 acres of third-class land.

Michael is the first of my Curtis family ancestors who immigrated to Australia July 1941 with his wife Sarah and 2yr old daughter Mary Curtis. This couple went on to have another 13 children. The Curtis family continues to multiply out here in Oz and I wondered how many remain across the seas in Ballyboy and beyond?

Happy New Year Ireland. I hope you can help me. Love Libby

There are over 200 trees on Ancestry for this family; many of the posters would be descendants of James and Margaret. You might want to contact them.

Thank you Patricia for your suggestions. I will check it out. It was lovely to hear a reply and find a lead to follow. I feel grateful (and my late Mum was Patricia too)
