Searching for James Norton and family

MonaghanDonaghmoyne (Monaghan)

HI.

I am looking for information on my second great-grandfather, James Norton, his spouse and children. I believe James was born in 1845 in County Monaghan, and hadat least four children: Mary (1863); Bridget (1866) Annie (1867) and James (1869). It appears James did not emigrate from Ireland, but his spouse Bridget did in the late 1800's, apparently after James death.

In addition to whatever information you could provide, I am particularly interested in his spouse's maiden name: I have seen it as both Markey and Murphey. Also, if there are records as to James'sdeath, and his family's eventual emigration to America, that would also be most welcome.

Thank you so much for help.

Jerry,

Here is James (jr) birth on 8.8.18969 at Laragh. Mother’s maiden name looks to be Markey.

Bridget was born 25.4.1866 at Cordrummans, and Anne on 28.2.1872 at Lisgull. Again the mother’s name looks like Markey in both.

I don’t see a death for James anywhere in that area 1871- 1921.

If the couple married in the parish of Donaghmoyne, then the church has no marriage records earlier than 1872. The statutory records start in 1864 but that would be too late to record this marriage.
