Searching for parents of Peter McGinn

I am hoping to find the names of my Great Great Grandfather, Peter McGinn’s parents who at one time lived in Currin Parish, County Monaghan. Peter McGinn was born January 14, 1830 in Curin Parish, County Monaghan, Ireland, according to one of my family member’s research from the 1990’s. I am not sure of the original sources. But do know that Peter McGinn died September 20, 1906 in Melrose, lowa, Monroe County, USA. 

Peter married Bridget Kelly in November 14, 1857 in Mahoning County Ohio, USA. She was born December 1832 in County Kilkenny, Ireland, and died

February 18, 1904 in Melrose, lowa, Monroe County.

I know Peter McGinn left Ireland to come to America on November 14, 1852. I also know from an old newspaper article that Peter had at least one sister who also immigrated to the US, but the article only mentions that she is Mrs. Michael McCorrmick of Youngstown, Ohio.

I am visiting Ireland in the fall of 2025 and we are planning to travel from Dublin to Newbliss and to the Scotshouse area, where it is said Peter lived before immigrating to the US. I have been searching the internet for the names of Peter’s parents and siblings in an attempt to learn more about the family, where they lived, where they might have attended church, (they were Catholic) and where family members might be buried so that I might pay my respects. I unfortunately haven’t been able to locate much information regarding Peter’s parents or any siblings so far and wanted to reach out here in hopes someone could help.
