Thank you Patricia. I appreciate your response. RI is a great site. I have back to the late 1700's. Not sure if I'll be able to get back much further?, but I'm trying. We caught the surname change from Flesh to Fletcher on RootsIreland. My sister and I kept having dates and parents of what we knew as Fletcher's, appearing on RI as Flesh. Also Flech and Flèche etc. A lesson for everyone that surnames changed often, either by the family or what the census taker heard and wrote down. All I can come up with in our case, is that they felt that Fletcher sounded more " American"? It's always been a mystery, but we were lucky to have caught the Flesh's in their native Ireland. This is one branch of many that I need to post about. Terrence and Jane Smyth O'Brien of County Meath. John and Mary Malone O'Neil of County Kilkenny. Matthew and Ellen Fagan Murtagh of County Westmeath. James and Bridget Hayes Hornett/Harnett, Co Cork. Patrick and Ellen Sinnott Devereux of County Wexford.
