Walsh of Westport, County Mayo.

MayoOughaval (Mayo)

My great-grandfather Richard Walsh was supposedly from Westport in County Mayo, although my family seem to know nothing of his life before he moved to Devon. He was born in roughly 1882 and died around 1954. If my research is correct (finding information from my family is difficult as those who might have known have passed) he married a Dorothy Hannah Bevis on the 7th October 1911 in East Stonehouse, Devon, England.

I understand that Walsh is a fairly common surname, and so it may be difficult to find anything on his family due to the limited information I actually have about him...

Hopefully somebody can give me some advice on how to go about finding more information, or perhaps somebody may be able to provide me with some.

Many thanks, Tyler Colton.

Hi Tyler

This record looks pretty close; it's the only one for westport around 1882 from www.rootsireland.ie/

If you think this is correct i can have a look for siblings and the parents' marriage

Hi Tyler,

Have just seen your post.

Richard Walsh and Dorothy Hannah Bevis were also my great grandparents.

Perhaps we could share information.

5 years too late here but I believe but I had lost access to this account until now! If you were ever able to get further in your research about Richard Walsh and happen to ever check this page (especially given how long it has been since my posting), I'd love to get in touch and share information.

Thanks,

Tyler.
