Ellen Gallagher from Derry Lower

Mayo

I am trying to confirm if Ellen Gallagher who died in 1899 married to John Walsh in 1861 after his first wife Mary Gallagher died in 1860 was in fact the daughter of Patrick Gallagher and Margaret Corcoran from Derry Lower. Ellen married John Walsh in 1861 in Crossmolina with witnesses Daniel Hopkins and Bridget Slayne. Possible childrens names were Mary, Margaret, Bridget. I've been tracing this family for years with no clues. I have John and Ellen's childrens names as well as married names I am just trying to zero in on Ellen's family and who her parents and siblings were. Thank you so much

Jcarolan,

There is an Ancestry tree, Corcoran tree, that shows eight children for this couple. The paid site, Roots Ireland, also shows this. I did not see a Bridget or Margaret in the family. The children are: Edward, 1862; Michael, 1864; Anthony, 1866; Catherine, 1867; Thomas, 1870; Peter, 1872; Mary, 1874; and Martin, 1876. The residence for all children is Doodane, Crossmolina parish. John's children from his first marriage to Mary were Patrick, 1857 and John, 1860.

The Ancestry tree does show Patrick Gallagher and Margaret Corcoran as Ellen's parents, but I don't think the records attached are accurate. They are for others with the same names.

IF this family used the Irish naming tradition...not always certain....Ellen's parents' names would be Michael & Catherine.

Regards,

Carolyn
