Swift/Foody and Gilvary in Ballina Area.
Hello, Im hoping to confirm somenew leads I have from a DNA ancestor about the location for my Swift/Foodyand Gilvary ancestors. My DNA cousin was given records for her ancestor John Swift b 15 June, 1829 in Ballina and that his parents were Martin Swift amd Catherine Burke. I believe my 3x great grandfather Martin Swift/Foody b. About 1815 May have been an older brother to her John and share the same parents, or at least the same father. Id like to try and confirm this. My 3x great grandfather Martin was married to Mary Gilvary (various spellings) b. About 1819/20. The couple had two children born in Ireland that I know of; Patrick b. About 1840 and Thomas b. About 1845. Sometime between the birth of Thomas and 1851 they left or were evicted and traveled to England landing in Toxteth Park, Liverpool appearing on the 1851 census of England. Ive heard that many from the area of Ballina joined that community of Irish refugees in Toxteth? Thank you for any help you can offer. -Becky
