PATRICK T. MALONE (abt. 1877), and FRANCIS WILLIAM MALONE (abt. 1897) Ballina, Co. Mayo descendants?
I am again traveling to Ireland first week in May to do another self-drive family research trip. Plan to be in Mayo for a couple of days. I have been extremelyfortunate to havefound a lot of info. on my family and met cousins on both sides of my family, but I am still vexed bytwobrick walls along the way that might reap some more connectionsformy 2nd great grand unclePATRICK J. MALONE (about 1850-1927)paternalbranch in Ballina, Co. Mayo.
I am still trying to locate descendants from one of his sons PATRICK T. MALONE (about 1877)born in Ballina, Co. Mayo, His parents werePATRICK J. MALONE & first wife Bridget Mary Kilcullen. I foundsome info. that Patrick of same age might have immigrated to US about 1898 or 1900, but it is hard to confirm where yet another Patrick Maloneended up from the 1900 or 1910 US Census. On other hand, I have also found a Patrick Malone living with wifes uncle Anthony Connelly on Thomas St. in Castlebar with his wife Maryand son Patrick J. and daughter Bridget Agnes. in 1901 census. Thought this was promising with a son named after Patrick T's father in Ballina. Sadly he might have died before 1911 census in Castlebar. Signs of hisfamily in Castebar and nearbyseemsto have disappeared. But since there are so many Patrick Malones whodid not always usemiddle initialsor provideparent info, myspecific Patrick T. Malone has beenhard to find after that. Be great to find a living descendant of Patrick T, possibly still in Ireland.
Since I am posting anyway Ithought i would mentionI am also searching for US connections to his half-brotherFRANCIS "FRANK"WILLIAM MALONE(abt. 1885),ason of PATRICK J. MALONEof Ballinaand hissecond wife Mary Muffeny McCarthy. He attended Blackrock and was there during 1901 census. Found onAncestry thata Frank Malone apparently immigrated to US around 1908, but I have not been able to confirm for certainwhere he went in the US and where he died. A Social Sec. doc I found has some very close ID info. but claim he was born inNew York. Census info. supports this and a mother (who would have died earlier in Ireland)still living with this NY family.I was told by a DILLON-MALONEcousin that he was a Lieutenant in the military (US?) andthere was a obituary in the "Western People" newspaper in Ballina that noted he died in US around 1968. I have not found this obit. FortunatelyI have connected with my many DILLON-MALONE cousins originally from Ballinawho were step-siblings & step-cousins of Frank and Patrick T. anddescendants of my 2nd great grand uncle (shop proprietor, harbor master and cathedral lay leader) PATRICK J. MALONE and his third wife MARY ELLEN DILLON.
Any other leads on either of Patrick J's sons PATRICK T. and FRANCIS/FRANKwould be appreciated. Thanks! Slan!
Tom
