I am looking for family information of my great-grandparents, Edward Joseph Downs and Mary Meehan. They were married in Killasser Parish in 1863. Edward was born October 10, 1834 and Mary was born October 15, 1838 in County Mayo. They left for America in 1863. Their parents ere Patrick Downs and Ann Flynn, Thomas Meehan and Mary Durkin.

I looked at the 1856 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Killasser parish. I did not locate any Downs entries but did find a few Meehans including a Thomas in Carrowbeg townland. I then looked at all of Mayo for Downs in the Griffiths with no success. Also, checked the Tithe Applotment listings with the same result. Possibly they came from another county.

PERHAPS this record has the place of residence of bride & groom but there is a charge on rootsireland.

I believe these are all the same family just different spellings. The parent Pat Meehan may have been Thomas Patrick or Patrick Thomas not sure.
I would be interested in your Meehan information if you have some to share it may help me in my quest.
