Aghamore (Mayo)

Hi all im over 35 years with a brick wall About 1852 (not on 1851 census & daughter married in Yorkshire England 1854) am guessing that year. My 4 x great grandparents packed the whole family Some children at school others work age & moved from Mayo to Kingston upon Hull (hull) Yorkshire England to live. Lots of fishing & factory work in Hull in this era. All children are down as being born 5 or 6 of them in Aghamore but my grt grandfather wrote he was from Tomboholla. The thing am stuck on is his wife Harriet's family surname?? She is only down as her married name Harriet Duffy in 1861/71/81 census. Finding a Duffy in Mayo is like Finding a Smith in Hull So many :( Both John & Harriet were buried in Western Cemetery Hull Yorkshire John D 1881 and Harriet D in 1889. A very strongly Irish family i have many baptism & wedding certs for their children & grandchildren All remained in the same area. My Q is Harriet is not a very Irish name so perhaps she was Aina or Mary Harriet and of course John could have been Seamus or Eoghin It's such a pity no GPO records  1800 to 1864 not available And have found only few church marriage cert for many a John Duffy but not Wed to a Harriet Also Tomboholla records seem non existent Their 2 elder daughters Mary & Margaret were born 1833 & 1836 John says he was born 1801 & Harriet 1806 so am guessing their Wedding was between 1821-1832 pos in Aghamore maybe as all children Hannah Katherine John jnr & Patrick are recorded as Aghamore born so even if John was born in Tomboholla or near by Bushfields am guessing if kiddies born Aghamore (pos wives home place) that they possibly married at Harriet's home place also

Where do I go from here In 35 years just can't find Harriet's family surname

Thanks for any advice Always hopeful. Suzy

Hi

Harriet can be Irish, my Irish grandmother was a Harriet, named after her father, Henry, of course Henry is often changed to Harry more familiar every day use, hence

Harriet from Harry!

Liberty.

Ahh thanks Liberty I never thought of that

Think is John & Harriet had a son John jnr but never named the girls that. They were Mary & Margaret & Hannah & Katherine Thought the 1st or 2nd daughter was named after the mother? Tho Margaret (an husband walter lowery) had a daughter named Harriet Lowery in Census 1861 she was age 5 living with her grandparents John & Harriet Duffy, mum & dad lived next door.
