Hi,

Thanks for your message.

Have you searched for Richard in Church records?

Most Catholic records are held locally. One website which may help you is the irishtimes. Here thye give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. For Collon, follow this link:

http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/fuses/rcparishmaps/index.cfm?fuseaction=showidrecords&CityCounty=Louth&parish=Collon&churchid=203

For Church of Ireland records check:

http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42

http://www.nationalarchives.ie/

http://www.proni.gov.uk/index/family_history/family_history_key_sources.htm

Also, some Catholic and C of I records are currently being uploaded, free of charge, to www.irishgenealogy.ie/index.html However, this is an ongoing project so not all records are available yet.

Do you know much about Richard's emigration? Generally, more information was given at the port of arrival rather than that of departure. If you knew this it may help you find some information. For immigration information in Canada, you should check the Natioanl Library and Archives at http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/index-e.html

Some other websites which may help you in your search are:

The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/

The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx

Family Search: https://familysearch.org/

I hope this helps you find some more information on Richard. Remember to post any other information that you come across, as the more information you post the more likely it is that one of our volunteers may be able to assist or advise you.

Kind regards,
