Drummullagh, Carlingford, Co Louth. McLeavey (various spellings)

Carlingford (Louth)

Hello. I am new to this site and have added details re an ancestor of mine, Hugh McLeavey (born c1798, Ireland. Died 1871 Isle of Man). He lived in Drummullagh on the Lord Anglesey estates and later moved to Douglas, Isle of Man. I would like to hear of any info on possible sources for further records covering Drummullagh. I have looked at some baptism records for the area but they stop short of the dates I am interested in.pre 1835. Are school records available for the Drummullagh area in the 1800s? Any help greatly appreciated. I have added info on Hugh McLeavey on this websites 'Ancestors Stories' page.

Thank you,

Calla

Hello Patricia

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I do have the baptism records for Ardle (known to the family as Archibald) and also for Catherine. I meant to say I was interested in knowing if there are any baptism records pre April 1835. I have had a good search through the baptism records available on www.familysearch.org. I also wondered if any of the ancestral children would have attended the Col School, in Drummullagh but have no idea how to find this out. I have also looked at Griffiths valuation but as McLeavey has so many variations in spellings it is hard to decide who is and who is not related. I have quite a full family tree going back to Hugh McLeavey, all people on it have been cross referenced for their relationship. I have not added George to the tree as I cannot find a definite link, even though he may be an ancestor. It is all very mind boggling. I have been doing research for decades, pre internet, so already have a vast amount of info but every new reference brings a multitude of questions. I do really enjoy the search.

I have added info on Hugh McLeavey on this websites 'Ancestors Stories' page.
