Bodel (Sisters?) from County Longford

Longford

I have what I think are 2 sisters marrying 2 brothers. If not, then I know I have either a set of brothers or set of sisters here. I just cannot figure out which. But more interestingly. The ladies have no relatives. that I can find.

Seeking help trying to figure out if there is something out there I am missing.

First Couple:

  • On 20 Mar 1840, Charles Hall married Ann Bodel in Kenagh, Co. Longford, Ireland.
  • His address was listed as Killcommick, and hers was Kenagh.
  • Source was Roots Ireland that someone shared. The document had no further details.

Second Couple:

Now Sarah Hall passes away in 1889.

Now here is where I get stuck.

  • Searching, I have found no other Bodel's in County Longford, Ireland. (Unless I jump 50 years forward into the 1900's.)
  • Suggesting that maybe Ann went there first for some reason. Then Sarah (sister or cousin?) comes later.
  • Ann was born about 1817, Sarah about 1827. Based on age at time of death.

Any thoughts on how to connect these couples more?

Or figure out where they came from?

Thanks!

The 1834 Tithe listings for Kilcommock civil parish only lists a John Hall who was leasing around seven acres in Coolnahinch and ten acres in Mosstown Island. No mention of a Charles Hall so likely as a farmer, he worked on the land leased by John Hall.

The question is whether this John Hall was a brother to the Charles Hall listed on the 1845 marriage or possibly this was the John Hall who married Sally Bodel in 1845.Below are the links to the two John Hall entries in the 1834 Tithes.

I note that John Bodel was listed as a weaver on the 1845 marriage. My guess (with no proof) is that Anne Bodel was a sister to Sally Bodel.

The Griffiths Valuation from the early 1850s showed a Charles Hall and a John Hall as heads of household.

I found two Hall death records which may be of interest.

In 1864, a John Hall (age 77) died in Kenagh. There is no information. As an aside, we do not have death record images for civil death records from 1864-1870.

In 1900, a 77 year old John Hall died in the townland of Kilmakinlan in Kilcommock civil parish. He was a widower and the informant was son Charles Hall. Possibly he was the John Hall who married in 1845. See ninth record at this link https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/files/civil/deaths_returns/deaths_1900/05769/4630366.pdf
