Ebzery family
Are there any families with the name Ebzery still living in Limerick or anywhere in Ireland?
William Ebzery (publican of the pub at Foynes, which still bears his name now as a café, d. 1913) had 3 sons William, John and Thomas between 1894 and 1899, but Thomas disappears before the 1901 census with no death record found. There are no other Ebzery males in the 1911 Census of marriageable age.
Does anybody know what became of the sons Wiliam and John? I can’t find any Ebzery births or marriages in the civil records after 1911 except for the marriage of William Sr’s daughter Mary Ellen to Michael Sheehan, who remained in Limerick.
2 people named William Ebzery were still apparently in Foynes in 1923 according to the dog licences lists. Who was the second one?
William the publican’s son William was the informant for the registration of both parents’ deaths in 1913 and 1930 and wass till at Foynes. There is no death record for William Jr up until 1974, the limit of the online death registrations. No news of John.
Correspondence with someone in Ireland mentioned that she had memories of 2 Ebzery brothers still serving at the pub in the early 1960’s when she went there to watch All Ireland GAA finals when Ebzerys got a television!
i will be visiting Limerick around 7-9 September and hope to be able to visit the Ebzery cafe when I'm there, but unfortunately i don't think my dates will coincide with its opening days.
