Mary Ryan of Mary Ryan and Sarah Byrane, Nicker, Limerick

Pallasgreen (Limerick)

Hello,

I wonder if anyone here has any information on Mary Ryan (b. abt 1889). I can't find her birth record and there's no father on the marriage certificate. She married James Gammell on 9th Feb 1916 in Nicker. I think I have her on the census in 1901, with Mary Ryan (who I presume is her mother, from Mary's death record and from Mary Gammell's birth record for her first child in 1916). I think I also have her on the 1911 census, recorded, and then scored out on the census with Sarah and Mary. I believe she was a servant on William Donovan's farm in Bunavie (which is where she's married from). Mary Gammell (nee Ryan) died on 21st May 1959 in Corelish). It's a long shot, but if anyone knows the family or might possibly know where they lived in Corelish after being married, I'd really appreciate it. Mary Gammell was my dad's grandma and he used to come over to visit in the late 1940s/early 1950s. I have some photos of him and his brother, Christopher, playing in the area, with a local boy called Jimmy Howard.

I hope this all makes sense! I've added a restored and colourized photo of Mary Gammell (nee Ryan) near her home, from about 1956...along with the neighbours. Thank you very much.

Patricia, thank you so much for your recommendation. I've had so many wonderful replies and people wanting to help, even down to the name of the stream my dad remembers (which locates the house). Thank you again.
