David Roche of Monagay, Limerick

Monagay (Limerick)

DNA evidence has me related to David Roche, b ca 1819, who married Johanna Kiely in 1846 at Monagea (Monagay), Limerick.

They went on to have 9 children. At least 2 of them, possibly more, emigrated to New Zealand.

My great-great grandfather was David Roche, but not THIS David Roche. I have absolutely no information on the man.

I know he emigrated to New York, was married Margaret Austin, but where? when?

My great grandmother Margaret was born 1857, but I cannot find them anywhere in US in either 1860 or 1870 census. And I cannot find her marriage to Daniel Shea, presumably in New York 1877, 1878.

Unfortunately, getting to previous generations is very difficult as records are not available for the critical time period.

I am thinking that David Roche (married to Johanna Kiely) may be 1st cousin to my David Roche, but without parents names, or even estimated date of birth.

I also know I am related to Thomas J Roche, born in New York in the late 1820's, early 1830's, married Mary Smith in Indiana in 1862, lived in Davenport Iowa, but info on him is sketchy as well.

If any of this rings a bell with anyone, please contact me.

My great grandmother Margaret was born 1857, but I cannot find them anywhere in US in either 1860 or 1870 census. And I cannot find her marriage to Daniel Shea, presumably in New York 1877, 1878.

If you go on Ancestry.com, there are many public member trees with information about Margaret and Daniel. If you don't subscribe to Ancestry, you can probably access it at a public library.

Thank you Patricia, but I have the complete line of Daniel Shea and Margaret Roche. My grandmother was their 10th child.

It is Margaret's parents David Roche and Catherine Austin, I am trying to track, either in US or Limerick, Ireland.

Thank you for this information, but, unfortunately, this Roche family (which Ancestry DNA suggests I am related to) appears to run parallel to mine. 

My great grandmother was born in New York City in 1857, therefore this David, born in 1860, could not be her brother.

However, I am fairly certain that the David Roche who married Johanna Kiely is related, just not directly.
