John Prendergast and Bridget Hyland

Limerick

Hello from Australia,

I’m having trouble finding the resting place of my GGG Grandparents John Prendergast B.1795 D.20 Jun 1879 Newton, Galbally, Mitcheltown, Co. Limerick, Ireland and Bridget Hyland B.1804 D.14 Oct 1864 Newton, Galbally, Mitcheltown, Co. Limerick, Ireland.

I’m travelling to Ireland in August and would love to find where they’re buried to take photos. I understand that this might not be possible, as the plot may not be marked. I've attached their death records. The informant on John's death record #114 his daughter Mary. Mary Gilbert is also the informant on #115 her daughter Margaret.

Does anybody have any suggestions on how I could find their burial locations?

Rell,

I checked FindaGrave and Historicgraves and did not find them. Were they Catholic? I found 3 children on RootsIreland (paid subscription) baptized in Ballylooby Parish, parents John Prendergast and Bridget Hyland- Patrick 1828, John 1834, and Catherine 1841. Perhaps there is a family gravesite there?

If they were Catholic, you might want to contact Archdiocese of Cashel and Emly or Christ the King Parish in Galbally. They might be able to tell you which church or parish Newtown is in, and the church might have records where the Prendergasts are buried.

Although they have only been open since 1913, they might have suggestions.
