Information about Avingtons

Limerick

I am locking for information abut Avington in Limerick. My wife's great-great grandfather was born in 1821 or 1822 in Limerick from the research I've done. His name was George W. Avington. He was born in St Kilfinain's parish but I can't find a parish by that name. His father, also George, was born in Ireland in 1795 but where is unknown. George W. Avington married Margaret Hines, 1828, who was also born in Limerick County. Her father was David Hynes and born in St Munchkins in Limerick. They married in New York after emigrating to the US.in 1853. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Were your ancestors Church of Ireland or Roman Catholic?

The subscription site Roots Ireland has a baptismal record for a George Abington September 19 1813. . The church was the Church of Ireland Parish of Kilfinnane which is in southern Co. Limerick. Father was shown as Thomas Abington. Possibly this is a different person.

There was also a January 20 1772 baptismal record for a George Avington in the RC parish of St. Mary's in Limerick city. Father John Avington and mother Anne Lyddy.

No record for a George Avington around 1821-1822.

Thanks for your help.  I have used RootsIreland with various spellings of Avington but didn't get a hit.  I'll continue with my quest.
