Butlers of Castleconnell, Limerick

Limerick

Looking for any info on my relatives who lived within Coolready townland, Castleconnell through the 1800's perhaps into the 1900's. William Butler (1804 -1850) married Bridget Gleeson (1801 - 1876). William monument stone is located in Kilmurry Cemetry, Castletroy, and Bridget's is in Stradbally Cemetry, Castleconnell. I believe they may have three sons, Michael, James and Patrick. Patrick was born 1838 and emigrated to Australia in 1865, died in 1904 at Swan Bay, NSW.

I've hit my wall at William and Bridget, however, would love to find out more about possible siblings and children of William.

Thanks for any help in advance.

If Bridget Gleeson Butler died in 1876, there should be a civil record for her death. But a search at the free site irishgenealogy.ie did not yield any findings. It's possible her death was not registered or that the wrong date is on the headstone.

The baptism records for the RC parish of Castleconnell began in 1850, so you would not find records of their children born before that year. Do you know why William and Bridget are buried in two different cemeteries? That sounds rather unusual for that era.

Hi, Yep seemed a little odd to me as well. I've attached two files that i have managed to upload. Both monuments were erected by Patrick Butler, their son, and my G-G Grandfather who emigrated to Australia in 1865. I believe the Stradbally one for Ms Wm Butler was erected in 1900. The stone for William appears newer, and also has other family members including James, who may have been his grandson? All a little bit confusing why different cemeteries but William did die a lot earlier in 1850??

I certainly appreciate any help. Would eventually like to trace William's parents and whether they originated in the Limerick area or moved from a different County.

Hi Jeff, i have a record of James and Ellinor Butler from Castlecrine marrying into the Ievers family around 1780. The Ievers family were based at both Mountievers, Sixmilebridge and Castle Ievers, Athlacca.  That might be a step in putting together some links.  They were both shown in the Killaloe diocese marriage records, which includes the town Castleconnel.
