Hanrahan

LimerickCroom (Limerick)

My wife's mother, Anne Hanrahan, was born in Ballynabanogue, Limerick, Ireland, in 1880. I've searched the 1901/1911 Censuses but cannot find any mention of her there. Would anyone be faniliarwith any Hanrahans? Thank you..

Thank you, Roger. I appreciate your reply which has been very helpful. In reading my response I hope the frequency of Annes and Hanrahans doesn't wreck your head, :)

The Hanrahan family link you posted is, I strongly believe, my wife's grandmother Anne Hanrahan's family for the following reasons:

The family lived near Croom, as my wife Anne's  grandmother did also in the details provided in the 'where born' section of the 1911 Census where she was married with four children to William Carroll of Ardobreen, Thomastown, Co. Tipperary.

The reason my wife's Anne Hanrahan is not on the 1901 Census in your link above is that Anne was 30 in 1901 and had obviously left home before 1901 and then later started a family in Ardobreen, Thomastown, Co. Tipperary where she appears in the 1911 Census.

My wife's grandmother Anne Hanrahan was the first-born of her family in Tullovin, Abbeyville, Co. Limerick, and consequently was given the same name as her mother Anne (maiden surname not known yet).

I searched on the 1901 census for all of Ireland and did not find your Anne/Ann.
