Francis McCanna - Ann Bradley

Leitrim

Francis McCanna born 1808 and Anne (Nancy) Bradley born 1810 lived in Balleyglass Leitrim

They had 8 children all of which came to the states mid 1800s

Jane, James, Anna, Elizabeth, Francis B, Bridget, Rose and John.

Francis and Ann are my great grandparents

I can find no information on where exactly they lived or info on Francis and Anne's parents.

We will be in Leitrim in June and would love to narrow down exactly where they lived.

Francis McCann, a stone mason, died in 1875, aged 85 in Ballyglass. Anne McCann died in 1885, aged 80. James McSharry, their son-in-law, was present at death. James McSharry married Francis's daughter Jane Bradley in 1865. James was also a stone mason and the son of a stone mason.

James McSharry and Jane McCann had seven children ( at least one died early). I do not see the family in the 1901 census. Did they leave Ireland after the death of Anne McCann?

Here is a link to our Meet and Greet form https://irelandxo.com/meet-and-greet The civil parish is Killasnet.

Can't thank you all enough!

I tried to look at Griffiths, I could not figure out how to find plot # 7 on the maps. It opens to a very wide angle map. I'll need to dig a bit to find how to locate plot #7.

The death information for Frank and Ann is also very helpful.

Thank you for the info on James McSharry and Jane, I do have 6 children in my tree for them: Anne,Catherine,Mary,Rose,Ellen and Francis. I believe Jane is the only child that stayed in Ireland. The marriage cert states James was from Russawn - perhaps they moved away. But it is strange that they are not in the 1901 census as they married in Lurganboy in 1865, which would make you think the family still lived near there.

The rest of the McCanna children came to the US. Including my great grandfather Francis who was born in 1837.

I would love to find Francis' and Ann Bradley's parents and dates for them - I assume they also lived in the area.

I came across these two death entries, 1879. The first Anna McSharry, a widow and the second Jane McSharry aged 36 years. I wonder if this is your Jane ? I then came across a marriage for a James McSharry , a widower, to a Rose O'Hara in 1894, see cert in following entry, I just wonder could this be Jane's husband or do you know what became of them.

Eileen:

I think the Jane who died in 1879 was different. James and Jane's youngest child Francis was born in 1881 in Ballyglass. The marriage record for the 1894 James McSharry shows a different name for the father compared to the 1865 marriage record.

Thank you all again for the helpful information. The McCanna's were masons when they came to the US as well!

Is there any chance that we might be able to locate their grave site? Or the location where they resided?

I would also love to find Francis and Anne Bradley's parents.

Best regards,

Caroline
