McGoldrick families, including Hart and Kimmet
Hello, how are you? I've identified some ancestors as having been from the Dromahair area, however, I do not know how (best) to proceed in finding more details. I was hoping someone would be able and willing to guide me somehow.
My 2x great grandparents, James McGoldrick (b ~1861) and Margaret Hart (b 1872), both come from families from the Drumlease and Killanummery parishes.
I have found records for (what I believe to be) the marriage ofJames's parents, James McGoldrick and Bridget Kimmet, in Killanummery in July 1853. Their children appear to have all been baptized at Drumlease between 1862-1878 (not sure what happened between 1853-1861). A handful of these children, including my 2x great grandfather, emigrated to Philadelphia, USA in the mid-to-late 1880s, but I haven't necessarily been able to locate travel records. Also, children of whom I believe might have been Bridget Kimmet's brother, Michael, were also living with the McGoldrick siblings in Philadelphia. I'm not sure, but these Kimmets may have earlier lived in Riverstown, Sligo.
Margaret's parents, James Hart and Bridget Clark, were married at Killanummery in April 1868/69. Their first child, John, was baptized in Killanummery in 1870 and the family moved to Glasgow around 1871, where Margaret and three more siblings were born. Margaret's mother died in Glasgow in 1888, and the remaining family members came to America shortly after that. James McGoldrick and Margaret Hart were married in Philadelphia in 1892. James Hart died in Philadelphia in 1910.
The parents of James Hart were James Hart and Margaret Kilrane, whileBridget Clark's parents were John Clark and Catherine Feeney, and I've found the names of some of James's siblings, but have virtually no more info about any of them. And aside from their names, I know nothing more aboutJames McGoldrick (Sr) and Bridget Kimmet.
Is there any other information I could share that might help? Should I also post this on the Killanummery parish page? Thank you in advance.
Best regards,
Gregory M. Genovese
