Hi Caitriona, I have Cullen ancestors from Gortnagrelly Sligo (Simon circa 1800, Patrick circa 1820, Catherine 1845, who married John McMorrow from Manorhamilton, but also had a farm near Glencar). Did you do a dna test by any chance? I am in touch with a descendant of Catherine’s sister Anna as well.

I, too, am researching the McMorrows, specifically Annie McMorrow, who may be from Manorhamilton, Cloonclare, Leitrim. Born around September 1854, parents James McMorrow and Bessie McDonough. She emigrated to The U.S.  at about age 20.

    I have some McMorrow/Cullen connections that may help.  My grandmother Brigid McMorrow...born to Hugh McMorrow and Brigid Cullen on March 1, 1901 or 1909(?) in Diocese of Kilmore, immigrated with her sister (could be 'Patsy'....could also be Annie) to the US when she was 16yo.  She and all of her siblings from what I understand, where orphaned when they were quite young and all went to live with their maternal uncle Pat Cullen (somewhere near Manorhamilton I presume?). I don't know this for certain but she did have quite a few siblings...none of whom I've met.  I think only her and her sister immigrated to US. 

   I would love to know more and potentially connect with whatever ancestors/relatives still remain.  My sister and I are planning a trip for next year.

My great grandmother was Annie McMorrow, born 1854. Her parents were James McMorrow and Bessie McDonough, according to her death certificate in Boston, Massachusetts. I have found a couple of Anne McMorrows or MacMorry in Leitrim, but can't confirm if either of them was my great grandmother.

I have found an Anne Macmorry, born 1853 in "Kinlough Parish" (there is no parish named Kinlough so probably was the townland) to James Macmorry and Biddy Macmorry (maybe Bessie?). There also is an Anne Macmorry, born 1859 in Cloonclare parish to James Macmorry and Mary Macnama. The first one seems possibly correct.

Sorry, but I don't have any information on the Cullens.

My sister and I plan to come to Ireland in May 2025, but still are trying to confirm the births of our great grandparents, Michael Moan (USA spelling) and Rose Burns, supposedly born in the Dublin area. The search is complicated by the fact that only Rose could read and write, and there are multiple spellings of Burns (Byrnes, Byrne). Also Moan could be an English spelling of a number of names, such as Mohan, Mowen. etc., etc.

Any help is appreciated.
