Cantwell

Laois

Any help needed on tracing a James cantwell born Ireland.

Catherine, Katherine who was born queens county.

They did have children born in queens county so presume they married and lived there at some point.

The only information I have is the 1851 English census.

One daughter was Mary cantwell born around 1843.

I can only presume they moved to Bradford England around the famine time or just after.

anyhelp regarding exactly where they originated in queens county and parentage , marriage would be much appreciated.

Julie:

I checked Roots Ireland www.rootsireland.ie and found two possible baptismal records for a Cantwell child with parents James and Catherine. The two records were in 1834 and 1845 and they were recorded in the Rosenallis RC church records. Possibly these records are for your family. NOTE: neither record was for a Mary.

Roots is a pay site to view a transcription of a church record.

The RC church in Rosenallis corresponds to two different civil parishes: Rosenallis and Castlebrack which are both in the northwest part of Co. Laois.

Hi roger

thank you so much . I have been searching for the last two years but had no luck. Any information however small is worth looking into. I will ask someone who has a subscription to roots to take a look for me . It does sound a possibility , as they did have more children. I will need to check. Y records on their names. I will reply again as soon as I find anything . THANKYOU so much
