Henry Connors, Thomastown, Kilkenny
Hello, I'm looking for information on Henry Connors. The last confirmed record I have for him is dated October 8, 1908.
Henry is my paternal Granddad's (Patrick Connors b.June 9, 1880 in the Workhouse Hospital in Thomastown, Kilkenny) younger brother Henry Connors.
Henry was born and baptized on July 12, 1886 in the Workhouse Hospital in Thomastown, Kilkenny when his mother Johanna Connors (born 1855 In Thomastown, Kilkenny to Patrick Connors & Anne Dempsey).. His father was 'Not Recorded'.
His mother Johanna Connors married widower Richard Hanrahan on February 9, 1891 in Thomastown, County Kilkenny. He had 3 half-sisters, Margaret born on March 23, 1892, Mary born on February 19, 1894, Johanna born on June 29, 1897. I'm in contact with living members of this family.
The 1901 Census of Ireland says Henry Hanrhan (sp. in Census) age 15 was living at #4 Mounteen Street in Thomastown, Kilkenny. He was listed as the son of Richard Hanrahan although he was his step-son.
On October 2, 1901 Henry was arrested for throwing stones at & breaking the windows of the home of Mary Hutchinson on Pipe Street in Thomastown, Kilkenny. The Judge dismissed the charges.
Henry joined the British Army on December 3, 1901. He said he was born in Thomastown, Kilkenny, Ireland in 1884 and was seventeen years and six months old (he was actually two years younger than that being born in 1886). He joined the 5th Battalion Royal Irish Regiment aka. Kilkenny Militia (same one his older brother Patrick Connors joined). His Soldier/Service Number was #2766.
February 6, 1906, Henry was arrested for a second time. The Cause of Complaint, "Drunkenness That the Defendant, was found drunk on the Public Road at Cloghabroday in said County, on the 1st day of February 1906..." Henry was convicted and ordered to pay a fine of two shillings and sixpence which he paid on the same day.
Henry was arrested for a third time on October 6, 1908. The Cause of Complaint was "...Defendant was found drunk on the Public Road at Mounteen on the 26th day of September 1908. He was convicted and ordered to the fine of three shillings and sixpence and for costs the sum of one shilling and sixpence forthwith". He did not pay the fine on that day so a Writ was issued on October 7, 1908 for his arrest. He paid the fine in the amount of 5/ received on October 8, 1908.
This is my last confirmed record for Henry.
I would really appreciate any suggestions as to where I might find out what happened to Henry after 1908.
Thank you in advance for any help.
Susan O'Connor
