Looking for birth records on Daniel Rooney father and son

St Marys (Kilkenny)

I'm planning to visit Ireland in May and hope to trace my relatives. Daniel Rooney and wife Mary Corcoran as well as son Daniel Rooney and wife Catharine Sixsmith daughter of Benjamin Sixsmith. All I can locate is Daniel and Catharines marriage at St Mary's. They all lived in Kilkenny for a period of time. Any help is greatly appreciated

Daniel Rooney Jr.'s 1879 marriage record notes that he was 20 years old. If true, he would have been born c1859. I have not found a baptism for him in RootsIreland's databases. There would be no birth record, as civil registration started in 1864.

RootsIreland has birth/baptism records for children of Daniel Jr., as follows. All of these children were born in workhouses. Daniel had various occupations, such as tinker, carpenter, brushmaker. A tinker could be an Irish Traveler with no fixed abode, who moved around the country. Or tinker could mean a tinsmith who traveled around to find work but was not a Traveler.
