William Comerford and Julia Birch Kilkenny city

Researching the family/children of great grand uncle William Comerford 1842-1921 and his wife Julia Birch abt 1842-1923 in Kilkenny City.  Different records have Julia, Julie, Judith, and Johanna.  William’s parents were Edward Comerford and Alice Arkwright, Maudlin Street, Kilkenny.  Julia’s parents were Joseph Birch and I believe Anty Cuggy, Bishop’s Hill, Kilkenny.William and Julia were married 23 Jul 1866 at St. Canice’s, Kilkenny.  William shoemaker residence Maudlin St., Kilkenny.  Julia dressmaker residence Bishop’s Hill, Kilkenny.  In the 1901 and 1911 Census William and Julia are living on Maudlin Street, Kilkenny.

Now to the children and any help you can give in filling the gaps in Ireland.  Many I did not find birth, baptism, not either.  The 1911 census reflects Julia had 9 children with 6 still living.  I was able to find 8 children, 6 of the 8 I found were still living in 1911.

Alice/Allice 1866-unk.The only records I found for Alice were her 4 Oct 1866 birth registration and 30 Sep 1866 baptism at St. Canice, Kilkenny.  No other information found.

Edmund/Edward 1868-1896.9 Jul 1868 baptism at St Canice.  I did not find civil birth registration.11 Apr 1896 death registration.

Joseph 1870-1922.  7 Jun 1870 baptism at St. John’s Kilkenny.  Mother identified as Johanna Birch. I did not find a civil birth registration.  Joseph migrated to USA about 1887.  1894 Massachusetts marriage to Catherine Murphy, 23, seamstress, POB Kilkenny.  20 Mar 1922 Death registration in Massachusetts.

Thomas abt. 1872-1946.I did not find birth registration or baptism.  I found no records of Thomas in Ireland.  All connections from Massachusetts records.  His 1906 USA Naturalization paperwork reflects DOB 2 July 1872.  Thomas migrated to Massachusetts @1891.  He returned to Ireland a couple of times and in 1902 returned to USA with his brother John.  1909 marriage to Delia O’Donnell in Massachusetts.  Thomas died 24 Sep 1946 in Massachusetts.

Mary 1875-1946.  16 Apr 1875 Kilkenny birth registration.  I did not find a Baptism.  Mary migrated to Massachusetts abt 1894 and in 1907 Mary, 27, domestic married John Joseph Price, 30, baker, POB Kilkenny.  Mary died 12 Jan 1946 in Massachusetts.

Patrick @1878-Unk.  I did not find birth registration or baptism.Living with his parents in the Irish census.  1901 – Patrick, 20, single, no occupation.  1911 – Patrick, 34, single, fisherman.  I found Patrick, 41, single, labourer migrating in 1920 to New York.

John 1880-1961.  I believe a 20 Jun 1880 birth registration is his.  I did not find baptism.  Mixed up with another Maudlin St. birth reported by same midwife two months after the births.  I assume mid-wife mixed up some information.  John still living with parents in 1901 census.  John migrated to Massachusetts in 1902.  At some point moved to New York City.  In 1911 New York John married Agnes Deigan, POB Ireland.  John died 29 Mar 1961 in Queens New York.

Ellen 1884-1961.  14 July 1884, Kilkenny birth registration.  I did not find a Baptism.  Ellen still living with parents in 1901 census.  Ellen married Edward Walshe of Maddoxtown at St john’s Kilkenny 17 Sep 1906.  I did not find civil marriage registration.  In 1911 census living on Maudlin Street.  I found civil birth registrations for 9 children born 1907-1922.  Ellen death registered 17 Feb 1961 at Mauldin St, Kilkenny.

I have not found any clues for the ninth child.  But noticed while the first three children were named after grandparents, none were named after parents.
