Walsh from Graiguenamagh

Seeking information on Denis Walsh born circa 1814 . His headstone in Belvedere Cemetery, St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador indicates he was born or came from Griguenamagh, County Kilkenny, He died August 18, 1861. He was married to Elizabeth Breen in 1844 in St. John's. She was born c 1823 and died Nov. 1879. They had eight children. Denis had a brother Robert. They owned land in Topsail (Donovans) just outside St. John's. That farmland is now part of the town of Paradise, Newfoundland.

The baptismal records for the RC parish of Graiguenamanagh start in 1818. So if Denis was baptized in that parish around 1814, a record is not available. There are no Robert Walsh baptismal records in the parish so likely he was also born before 1818.

Are you aware of any other siblings? What was the name of the oldest son of Denis?

Have you taken a general DNA test?

In St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Bonavista, NewfoundIand/Iabrador, there is the foIIowing grave.  Just checking that the grave in BeIvedere Cemetery is the right one.

Denis Walsh who died Aug'st 27th 1899 Aged 75 years.

Also his wife Elizabeth died Feb'y 17th 1899 Aged 65 years.

Also their daughter Ellen died Nov 10th 1873 Aged 6 weeks.

And their son Thomas died Jan 10th 1875 Aged 5 years.

Also Francis Walsh died Jan 24 1911 Aged 9 mos.
