James Aylward (Rochestown) married Mary Aylward (Ballyknock) 12th Feb 1857

Kilkenny

Hello, I'm just plonking this here in case anyone ever comes looking!

My paternal line comes from these 2. James was born c. 1835 and Mary c. 1838. They has 11/12 children - all baptised in Glemore. I'm looking to trace James and Mary back a little more. Chances are James' parents were Patrick & Kate (or Ellen) and Mary's were Tobias & Ellen (or Kate!).

I have lots of official sources - civil & church records, newspapers etc....and for anyone else interested https://glenmore-history.com/ is such a helpful site but at this stage I think I'm looking for anecdotal info.

You may have already searched Roots Ireland or a similar subscription site. The RC parishes in the area: Rosbercon and Glenmore have baptismal records starting in the early 1830s. I did not find any Aylward baptismal records in all of Kilkenny where the father was Tobias. I also did not find any James Aylward baptismal records in the 1830s in Co. Kilkenny with a father Patrick. There was a James Aylward baptized in 1821 with a father Patrick mother Mary Saintleger in the parish of Inistioge just north of Rosbercon. Likely too early!
