Collings.
Kilkenny
My great=grandfather was possibly James or John Collings. He was a roaming teacher with his brother in the Cape Colony, South Africa, married a Miss Van Zyl ca. 1883. Lived at Calvinia.

I found two records, John Eugene born 1884 and James Edward born 1883, second posting. I wonder if you know the parents or have a time period.

Theo,
Attached is John Collings, Sr. death record from 1884...sadly he died before John was born.
They were from county Wexford, not Kilkenny.

Carolyn
Theo,
For clarification, did he marry Miss Van Zyl in 1883? Approximate what year was he born?
