Where was the pound in 1890's?
KilkennyKillarney (Kilkenny)
My husband's great grandad Patrick Weston (???)ran the pound for the town? He took care of the animals there which were impounded for taxes. The family lived on a farm near the pound. He was also a cobbler.
Also, his wife, Ellen Downing was one of 21 children.....her mother was a businesswoman and bought eggs from farmers around her and then sold them in town. Supposedly her father sailed away to the US and passed away in Chicago.
I'd love to find where the family farm was. And to locate more of this family.
We have gone to Killarney 5 times but have not been successful in locating anything beyond baptismal records. They state the family Patrick and Ellen were married in Kilcumin. Several children were born in Ballydribbeen.
Thanks!
