hi all, my great grandfather John Jones was born in Kerry about 1836. His father was also John Jones, farmer. He was recommended for the RIC by R A O'Donnell, RM. He was posted to Cork.
We have found a DNA link to McElligot, also of Listowel,Although we haven't quite worked it out yet.
Any suggestions where we could look?

Hello again!
www.irishgenealogy.ie has the church records for Co. Kerry and Listowel baptismal records go back to 1802

I just searched and could not locate a John Jones baptism around 1836 in Listowel but maybe he was baptized in a different parish. If you have his mother's name, it would help your search.
There are many, many McElligott records in Kerry.

thank you so muchThank you very much - I will look through. I don't know his mother's name, unfortunately. Will look through the baptisms and see what I can find - that is a really helpful link.
