James Dunlevy and Julia Mahony's children

KerryKilleentierna (Kerry)

Hello,

I am trying to figure out if four siblings that I have as children for James Dunlevy and Julia Mahony are correct as I don't entirely comprehend the different information I've found on www.irishgenealogy.ie under the church and civil tabs.

I'll make this in a chart form for ease:

                                                               Church Record                                                Civil Record

Jeremiah 10 Apr 1864                              not found                                             Bawnaglanna, Molahiffe, Killarney

James 11 Mar 1866                             Laccareagh, Killeentierna                       Inchincummer, Molahiffe, Killarney

Thadeus (Timothy)  8 Mar 1868          Lacareagh, Killeentierna                         Bawnaglanna, Molahiffe, Killarney

Peter 2 Jun 1873                                  Lackareigh, Killeentierna                        Inchincummer, Molahiffe, Killarney

13 Sep 1873 on civ. reg.

Opinions? Two different families with the same parent's names?  Also, I cannot locate the townland of Lacareagh anywhere in Killeentierna.

James Dunleavy does appear in the Griffith's Valuation for Bawnaglanna as well as the 1901 census.

Thanks!

Carolyn

IrishGenealogy shows there was also a John Dunlevy. I'd guess there were children born between John and Jeremiah as well. I hope this helps.

Thank you, Patricia. Do you think all of these siblings are in the same family despite the variety of places in the church and civil records?

Hi again Patricia, Yes, I saw that record for Jeremiah....the civil record, it was the church record for him I couldn't locate. So, going forward, I believe all the townlands mentioned in the records are in the RC parish of Killeentierna, not Molahiff, correct? Thanks!

I believe the following is your Jeremiah, called Denis in the baptismal record. The date of baptism is a few days after Jeremiah's birth, and the parents are the same as Jeremiah's. Area - KERRY (RC) , Parish/Church/Congregation - KILLEENTIERNA Baptism of DENIS DUNLEA of DOCANE on 16 April 1864 Name DENIS DUNLEA Date of Birth 16 April 1864 (BASED ON OTHER DATE INFORMATION) Address DOCANE Father JAMES DUNLEA Mother JULIA MAHONY Further details in the record Child Denomination RC Father Occupation NR Sponsor 1 CATHERINE DUNLEA Sponsor 2 NR NR Priest NR About the record Book Number Page Entry Number Record_Identifier N/R N/R 209 KY-RC-BA-336022

Catholic parishes and civil parishes were not the same. The church record has the Catholic parish; the birth record has the civil parish. So the two parish names would not match.

Wow! That is some detective work! I would never have found that....interesting that his name was changed from Denis to Jeremiah. I've seen Darby and Dermot for Jeremiah, but never Denis. The parents and DOB work, so that's good. I wonder about the address of Docane - perhaps a spelling error. Thanks again!
