Nora M. Lynch - Daughter of Margaret Kelleher & John H. Lynch

KerryKilgarvan (Kerry)

Hello,

I'm trying to find Birth/Baptism records for my 2xGreat Grandmother Nora M. Lynch.  While the Lynch family lived in Morley's Bridge, County Kerry, all accounts (family & 1901 Ireland Census) have both her and her mother, Margaret Kelleher, being born in Ballyvourney (Nora being  born on 13th of June 1886).  How might I go about hunting down birth records from Ballyvourney?  I've searched the Ireland Birth Records and found ALL 7 of her siblings who were born in Kilgarvan, but none for Nora or her brother John Lynch who were born in Ballyvourney and Cork City, respectively.

Thank you in advance for any help you may offer! - Michael

In the meantime, here's are a few things I can add based on my great grandfather's records.

-  Nora M. Lynch was born to John Humphrey Lynch and Margaret Keleher on 13th of June 1886.

-The 1901 Ireland Census Nora's mother Margaret was born around 1846, also in Ballyvourney, Co. Cork.

- My great grandfather's sister Rita Shea visited Ballyvourney with her Aunt Hannah Lynch (Nora's sister) in 1927 and mentioned that Margaret had already passed away by then.

- I have a newspaper clipping  that mentions Nora's brother, John Lynch, was imprisoned in Ballykinlar for 10 months for his involvement in the IRA. I don't have the date of the article.

Thanks again!

Hi Michael

There are 7 baptism records of the children of John Lynch & Margaret Keleher

Thomas 1878 Margaret 1880 Cornelius 1882 David 1884 Honora 1886 Michael 1886 Joseph 1888

on www.rootsireland.ie/

Honora would be Nora of course but still no John.

You need to purchase credit to view the full record which will give you the parish.

Thank you so much ColCaff!

I was a little uncertain because none of the other names that you'd listed matched the siblings of Nora, but I purchased some credits anyway and sure enough, the baptismal date, parent names, and sponsor's information matches perfectly!!  Thank you again for a great lead... now to find her brother John!

Go raibh MILE maith agat!

Glad it was the right one Michael.

ancestry.com has a Prine Family tree which has John J Lynch with parents John Humphrey Lynch & Margaret Keleher born 13 July 1879 Cork - sources below. I can send them to an email address if the links don't work.
