Looking for info about the Blueman Sullivans

Kilgarvan (Kerry)

I will be visiting Ireland next week and plan to visst Caher and Coologues to see what I can learn about my Sullivan relatives . My Great grandmother Winifred Lynch's second husband was John Sullivan and her parents were Daniel Lynch (I believe of Rushanone) and Ellen Sullivan. She was baptized in Cahier on 22 March 1839.

According to Patricia from this site Winifred had several siblings

RootsIreland gives baptismal info for the following siblings of Winifred. Some of these lived in the townland of "Milleenathaguil ," which likely refers to Millerantaggle, a subtownland in the townland of Creggeen, which borders on Caher.

Surname First Name Year County

Church Baptism Lynch John 1840 Co. Kerry

Church Baptism Lynch Daniel 1841 Co. Kerry

Church Baptism Lynch Catherine 1843 Co. Kerry

Church Baptism Lynch John 1844 Co. Kerry

Church Baptism Lynch John 1844 Co. Kerry

Church Baptism Lynch Ellen 1846 Co. Kerry

Church Baptism Lynch Ellen 1846 Co. Kerry

Winifred’s  first marriage (to John Taehan ( of Clounleigh) in Kilgarvan 18 Feb 1859. Witnesses are Timouthy Haley and Patrick Blueman (which I’m told was to indicate which Sullivan he was)

Winifred and John were both born in Kilgarvan, she in cahir (caher?) and he in Coologes.

They had two children

Cornelius Taehan born 17 January 1863 in Milleenatagil (sponsors Mathew Lynch and Johanna Haley)

Mary Taehan born 10 March 1860 also in  Milleenatagil (sponsors John McCarthy and Helen Sullivan)

I think I know the birth or baptism and location  of my great grandfather. There is a John Sullivan born to Sylvester Sullivan and Mary McCarthy on 1 January 1833 in Coologues (I’m told its actually spelled Coologes)

I would love to visit the church they attended if it is still operating but don't know how to find it.

Any infomation about the Blueman Sullivans will be deeply appreciate.

I hope to be in Kilgarvan Tuesday Oct 7th or Wednesday Oct 8th.

Thank you. all for any help.

Hi, The current Catholic Church in Kilgarvan, St. Patrick's, was built in the early 1900s. It replaced the Church of the Assumption, built around 1816. You can see the location here:
