Frank Mullin, in Woodford in the 1960s, related to the Bonfields

Woodford Looscaun (Galway)

I have a letter from my great aunt, who was a Kansas Bonfield, to a Frank Mullin

explaining some of the Bonfield family history. She calls him a cousin and notes that her "Uncle Pat Bonfield"

returned to Ireland after being in the USA for a time.

Would anyone know of this Mullin family with Bonfield connections?

Thank you.

It appears that part of your second sentence was cut off. Could you tell us when Uncle Pat returned to Ireland. There were 67 Bonfields in the 1911 Irish census mostly in Tipperary and Clare.

It appears Patrick returned in the mid 1890s; he was somehow related to the Frank Mullin to whom my great aunt, Jeanne Bonfield, wrote in 1966.

There were nine Patrick Bonfield records in the 1901 census all in either Tipperary or Clare. None of the nine census records had a Mullin/Mullen in the record. Any idea how old Patrick was in 1901? Was he a bachelor?

Was Frank Mullin in the States or Ireland? The 1901 census had 41 Francis Mullen records, 27 Francis Mullin records, 6 Frank Mullen records and 6 Frank Mullin records.

Thank you. I guess the best way to try to find the missing Bonfield is to see if Frank Mullin, to whom my aunt wrote, in Woodford in 1966 would have been married to someone whose maiden name was Bonfield. My aunt says to Frank that his great grandfather's brother is my aunt's grandfather, Thomas Bonfield (1830-1894) who married Anne Finnerty and came to the USA sometime in the 1880s. So, who might be the brother of Thomas, who was Frank Mullin's great grandfather?
