Ellenor M'Glaughlin

Mountbellew (Galway)

My grandfather Martin McLoughlin had a sister Ellenor who was born Sep 25.1875 in Mountbellew Galway. I see that an Ellenor M'Glaughlen died in Mountbellew in 1876. I don't know if it's the same person. On ancestry they didn't list the parents. My grandfathers parent were Martin and Margaret Burke McLoughlin. According to Ancestry her death is listed in Vol 19,Page 225, film# 101588. Could this be the Ellenor I'm looking for?

Elenor McGlaughlin birth to the parents you named. Family lived in Cloonshivna. Date of birth is 5th Oct 1875 on the birth certificate which is a couple of weeks different after the baptism (so clearly wrong) but most birthdays were just guesses then, and often wrong. So seems pretty likely to be your ancestor.

I don’t see an 1876 death in Mountbellew registration area.

I found a link to that death - Mountbellew registration district, 1876, as 'Ellenor Mcglaughlen' the page is indexed as 225 and has an incorrect link on IrishGenealogy, the entry is actually on the next page in the register : see 3rd entry (136) on this page reported age at death 13 month and informant is a Margaret Mcglaughlen - no specific relationship is noted, but the place of death and residence of the informant is 'Cloonshivna' the same as the births already mentioned

Thank you Shane and Patricia, I do believe that this is my grandfather's sister. I have been trying for years to find out what happened to her. I have the records of all her parents and siblings and their children. You have filled in the missing piece. I appreciate your help so much. I have been deemed the family historian and have uncovered so much.

Sincerely,

Trish McLaughlin Allen (as you can see the spelling of Mcloughlin  has changed over the generations)

So glad we could help break down your brick wall, Trish.
