Mair,

Subscription Site  www.rootsireland.ie has a record of the birth of a Bridget Ellen King for Abbey, Monivea.

Date of Birth July 10th 1883. What was the names of her parents.

Most baptisms for a Bridget King are in Connemara.

Regards,

McCoy

Her father was Stephen King and her mother was Margaret Bane.

Thank you

Mair

I found something with a name Helena also.  Maybe Bridget was a nickname.

Death of a Stephen King, Monivea 1897

Mair,

The record in Roots Ireland is Bridget Ellen, Father Stephen -  National School Teacher - Mother - Mary Anne Bane. It states "Civil Birth Record"  It does not record a baptism.

A search for the Civil birth record proved negative. No siblings found.

Regards,

McCoy

I found something scribbled on paper that states Margaret Bane born 6/15/1851 and died 3/15/1927.  Margaret's father is James Bane.  I know my grandmother, Helena or Bridget had a sister.   She sent her sister clothes from USA.  I remember my dad talking about an aunt Julia and possibly an aunt Margaret.  Sorry my information is so jumbled.  I appreciate all your help.

Mair

Mair,

Civil Record from Roots Ireland - Marriage October 22nd 1876 - Abbey - Stephen King, 28 years, National Teacher to Margaret Bane, 24 years. Address for both Monivea.

Stephen's father recorded as Daniel - Margaret's father - James.

Witnesses: Peter Donnellan and Mary Cosgrove.

I have searched the Civil Records, but did not find any record of the marriage.

I will check my local registration office in the morning for any record of the marriage.

Regards,

McCoy

Did you mean Margaret's father is James instead of Jane's father is James?

Mair

Mair,

Apologies for that error.

I Have Civil copies of the marriage of Stephen King to Margaret Bane. The marriage took place in the church of Ryehill also Civil Birth record of Bridget Ellen King.

Her birth was reported by her father Stephen on the 23rd of July 1883. I have them scanned, but the system regards them as too large for posting.

Max size (2MB  I can post them by ordinary mail should wish. They are A4 size.

I messaged above also.

Did any other relatives pop up in your research? Is Monivea a small town?  Does everyone know everyone?  I was wondering because my daughter and I are planning on visiting the town this summer. We are curious  if there are any relatives of ours still living there.  We are open to any recommendations or additional information you might have.

Thank you again

Mair

Mair,

I attach copies of the 1901 and I911 Irish Census for Bane and King.

The record for Margaret King is possibly your connection. Margaret King died in 1927 and her death was reported by her son - James King.

She had a daughter a National Teacher and a boarder who was also a National Teacher.

Something to clarify!

Regards,

McCoy

Mair,

Subscription Site  www.rootsireland has a copy of the civil record of a Patrick King. Birth July 15 1897. Mother recorded as Margaret Bane, Father Stephen King, DEAD.

He is recorded as being 3 year of age in the 1901 Irish census. According to the death certificate provided by Eileen, Stephen King died on April 2nd 1897.

Regards,

McCoy

Mair,

Griffith's Valuation c1850 has a James Bane leasing 14 acres of land in the townland of Glennagloghaun North. This may be the land that his daughter Margaret King resided on?

McCoy

Thank you for all the information.

Mair
