Patrick Quirk

Hi sir do you know what church patrick was a member of and any more information that you can find out about patrick would be great. The town patrick was from and any thing on Cecilia Quirk. I have a list of sites that you can try and have a look on you mite have more luck than me. good luck

ROMAN CATHOLIC: Most Catholic records are held locally - One site which might be of use is -http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/browse/ - where you can ?browse? an overview of availablerecords per county. If you have any difficulty, you could try writing to the parish priest for possibleassistance. CHURCH OF IRELAND: Church of Ireland parish registers for the period up to 1870-are publicrecords. Registers are available for about one third of the parishes, however many were destroyedin the Public Records Office in Dublin in 1922. Most are still held by the local clergy, althoughsome are in the National Archives of Ireland and others are in the Representative Church BodyLibrary in Dublin. A list of all surviving registers is available in the National Archives. http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/. The Anglican Record Projectis has created an index to their records: http://ireland.anglican.org/cmsfiles/pdf/AboutUs/library/AngRecord/bunclodyunionindex.pdf Also try looking at this.TITHE APPLOTMENT BOOKS / GRIFFTH?S VALUATION You could try checking the land records calledthe Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38) http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp or the later Griffith's Valuation (1848-64) http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/ or the Church of Latter Day Saints (LDS) https://familysearch.org/ The Tithe Applotment List might be of use to you, or at least interesting for you. These listsconstitute the only nationwide survey for the period, and are valuable because the heaviest burdenof the tithes to the Established Church, the Church of Ireland, fell on the poorest, for whom fewother records survive. The information in the Tithes is quite basic, typically consisting of townlandname, landholder's name, area of land and tithes payable. Many Books also record the landlord'sname and an assessment of the economic productivity of the land. The tax payable was based on

Hi

I'm afraid information is a little thin on the ground, I do know Patrick, Michael & Cecillia would have been members of the Roman Catholic Church , I only know Michael Quirk was born in Co Galway in 1857 / 1858  from the English 1911 census,  I've no real good leads at all, I've just searched the Ireland, Civil Registration Deaths Index, 1864-1958 & over 1500 records returned for Patrick Quirk, ok I can discount some but it's still pretty daungnting to say the least.

I'm guessing Patrick would have been born sometime around 1833, give or take 5 years either side !

I've looked at some of the links & found without any town / birth / death  information it's quite difficult to narrow down a record, thankfully I don't do " giving up " so I'll keep on trying to find that elusive lead. Somehow I'll need to narrow this down, a bit of " luck of the Irish " wouldn't go amis right now.

Thank you for the information & lnks I'll post again if I have any better luck.

regards

Steve
