Patrick Fahy records in Co. Galway

Galway

I'm researching my family history in Ireland and know very little other than the information below. Any help in locating the town where they lived, church attended and what they did for a living would be great!

Patrick Fahy was born March 10, 1814 Co. Galway to Timothy Fahy and Mary Fahy. He was Baptized March 12, 1814 and the record is in the St. Nicholas N & E Parish records. The sponsors were Patrick Dolan and Mary Fahy. He immigrated to the US in 1837 and settled in Shelbyville (Bedford County) Tennessee. He married in 1845 and died August 25, 1865. Thanks!

Hello,

The record shows "Galway" for their residence on the church baptism record. That probably means that they lived in Galway City because that RC parish St. Nicholas N & E is located there. Additionally, I don't think that Fahy is Mary's maiden name as all the entries on the baptism record just show one surname for the couple...the mother's maiden names are not given. I thought her maiden name might be Dolan given one of the sponsor's surnames, but I do not know for sure. Also, that parish has early marriage records too, but I could not locate one for Timothy and Mary on the paid site, Roots Ireland.

Regards,

Carolyn
