Mullins/Mullen Co. Galway

Galway

I believe this is also my family. My 3x grandparents were Lawrence b c 1801 and Ellen (Tiernan? b c 1800 County Galway) Mullen. Known children were William b?, Thomas b c 1824, Patrick b c 1825-1828 (my 2x grandfather), Bridget b?, Dennis b c 1830, Catherine b?, Hannah b c 1838 and Lawrence b c 1841. There may have also been John b c 1842, but I haven'tfound any proof about him. Catherine was baptized in 1838 in Kilbegnet parish and Lawrence baptized there in 1843. I do know that William, Patrick, Dennis, Hannah and Lawrence immigrated to the states between 1848 and 1853. Patrick and Dennis came over together. I don't know when Bridget and Catherine immigrated. I do know Thomas stayed in Ireland, but that's all I know about him. Young Lawrence's son Paul wrote that the family lived in Brierfield. Patrick and Dennis' gravestone say they came from County Galway. Kathleen" Kara" Mullins is a DNA match to my sister Sharla Mullen Koller on My Heritage. I'm curious to know if she is a descendants of Thomas. Patrick first lived with John Mullen and family in Indiana. I believe this John to have been Patrick's uncle. We are DNA related to this John's descendants and stay in touch. Patrick married his first wife in Indiana and their 1st child, Ellen, was born there. I will have to look through my research and find when Patrick was a sponsor for 2 of this John's daughter's that became nuns.

Off the top of my head that's all I can think of right now. I would appreciate any and all help and direction. Thank you.

I tried to locate a civil death record for a Laurence Mullen in the Glenamaddy registration district with no success. (Civil registration of deaths started in 1864). I did locate a lead for an Ellen Mullen who died in 1878 and the informant was a Thomas Mullen. The townland was Ballyglass South in Kilcroan civil parish.

See sixth record for 1878 death of Ellen Mullen informant Thomas Mullen   https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/files/civil/deaths_returns/deaths_1878/020490/7190436.pdf

The 1901 census shows an unmarried Thomas Mullin in Ballyglass South  https://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Galway/Kilcroan/Ballyglass_South/1382162/  He likely died before 1911.

There is also a Denis Mullen in the townland and he may be a relation.https://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Galway/Kilcroan/Ballyglass_South/1382153/
