Philip Coyne (b. 1865) married Bridget Kelly (b. 1860). They lived at 10 Raploch St. in Stirling, Scotland. According to the 1901 Scotland census, Philip (then 35) lived at the address with his children: Bridget (12), who later lived in Columbus, Ohio, USA until she died in 1964; Patrick (9); Philip (7); and Catherine (6).
After mother Bridget died giving birth to a son, the boy ended up being dropped by a nursemaid and died as well about 1901, according to daughter Catherine. "It was the worst day of my life," Catherine Coyne, who would have been between age 3 and 5 at the time, told her granddaughter Yvonne Fowler many years later.
Catherine, at about age 16, caught a ship to Canada during WWI to visit an aunt. At age 17, she married Ernest Victor Fowler in St. John, New Brunswick on January 16, 1915. They had four children [Rose Marie (Rosie), Ronald, Renrick (Renny) and Anita (Nettie)], all born in Sackville, NB. The family of six emigrated to Columbus, Ohio in 1924. A fifth child, Victor, was born in Columbus. All five children had children of their own. Catherine died March 13, 1989.
Catherine, her husband Ernie and her young daughter Rosie made a visit to Sterling after the war to see her father and two brothers. After that, she lost touch with the those in Stirling. Her father Philip died April 7, 1927.
Philip was the son of Anthony Coyne and Bridget Leyden Coyne (provided in the Stirling "Death Book").
All of this is provided by Yvonne Fowler Coffman, daughter of Ronald Fowler (and sister of the rfowler who gave information above).
