Information sought on a Michael Neary, Curraghboy, Parish of Killeroran, County Galway.

Galway

Curraghboy is a small townland situated at Ballinamore Bridge, Ballinasloe, County Galway.

According to the 1855 Valuations the lessor was a Martin Ffrench.

On the 1881 - 1901 Valuaations the lessor is shown as a Michael Neary.  No idea of where Michael Neary came from - of if he lived at Curraghboy Lodge.  Michael Neary remained the lessor until 1915, when the estate was divided under the Land Act Purchase scheme.

Might anybody have any information relating to this Michael Neary please. ?

Hello,

There is information about the Honourable Martin Ffrench and Michael Neary on the site landedestates.ie. Martin owned the land and over 3,000 acres in Galway. He lived at Curraghboy Lodge (Ballinamore House). I can't say who Michael Neary was, but the article mentions that in 1906 he was the owner of the house.

Regards,

Carolyn

Maybe- What concerns me is that in 1911 he identified himself as a farm laborer.
