Corless Family of Beagh More in GAlway
I am seeking information about family connections to my great grandfather, James Corless, as I will be visiting Ireland in June 2025 and would love to learn more about his heritage. James Corless was born in 1965 in Beagh More, County Galway to Patrick Corless and Catherine Glynn. He had 4 younger brothers and 2 sisters. James married Mary Fahy in 1887 at the Roman Catholic Church in Caherlistrane. They had a son, Thomas in 1888. James immigrated to Amesbury, MA later in 1888 and his wife and son followed a year later. HIs parents, Patrick and Catherine, are listed in the 1901 census at House 28 in Beagh More with their two youngest sons, Edward and Patrick. The father, Patrick. died in 1905 but his wife, Catherine, is listed in the 1911 census (house 37 in Beagh More) with the same two sons. The older son, Edward, was now married to Maggie Monaghan and they already had 4 of their total 7 children. The mother, Catherine, died suddenly in 1923. Her age was listed as 79 so born about 1844 and she was buried in Donaghpatrick. we believe that her son, Edward "Ned" died in 1960 and his wife died in 1962 and both are buried in Donaghpatrick. We know that at least 3 of Edward's children (Mary Kate, Anne and Edward) would emigrate to the US but we are not sure if any others remained in Ireland. There is a Patrick Corless (1907-1985) who married Margaret Cosgrove (1909-2006) that could be a son. They are also buried in Donaghpatrick. But we are not sure if there were any children of Patrick and Margaret that might be connected to us. Thank you to anyone who might be able to provide any information.
