Hello,
I hope this finds you in good spirits. I need your assistance in finding a ggg-Grandfather (Alex Boyle) which came from Ireland to Columbiana Ohio in 1850 to work on the Baltimore RailRoads. He resided in a boarding house. He had a Child on October 20, 1856 in Gallia Ohio. The Mother was Martha Fea.
Meg
Hi Meg,
Thank you very much for your query to Ireland Reaching Out. Do you have any idea where in Ireland Alex is from? How do you know, if this is so, that he was from County Galway?
You have some information about Alex. You know when and where he arrived. More importantly, you know where he worked. This is your lead. You need to check local records there for the Baltimore Railroads. Perhaps a local library? The documents from this company could have more detailed information about Alex, such as where in Ireland he was from, his age, and where exactly he lived at the time. This could then give you a trail for more information.
Also check birth records in the US for Alex and Martha's child. Do you know anymore information?
Best of luck in your research!
Kind regards,
Sinead Cooney
